Blooood
So yesterday there was this big assembly thing for all the Grade 12's. It was pretty crazy. We went outside and witnessed a mock accident involving a drunk driver. It was scary. There was blood (fake) everywhere and broken glass and everything. It was a car, with 3 teenage guys in it, and a trunk, with a drunk teenage guy driving it. They didn't actually show the crash, but they had it all set up so that it looked like it had just happened. The driver of the car was lying across the hood...he had smashed through the windshield. His hand was detatched from his arm and was just lying there. The guy in the passenger's side was bleeding from the head. His head had smashed through the window. And the guy in the back seat was all slumped over. The drunk guy driving the truck was still drinking and the cops arrested him and took him away. In the next 45 minutes we watched the emergency services do exactly what they would have done if the situation was real. They didn't cut any corners. They even had the jaws of life out there and they took off the doors and the roof of the car. A hearse came for the guy on the hood and the other guys were strapped into stretchers and taken away in the ambulances. It was sweet...but really scary and sobering too. After that we went into the gym and had a "debriefing" time. Some cops and EMT's talked to us about accidents they had been on the scene for. And then we got a loooong "don't drink and drive" speech from some lady. But yeah...it was good.
